Zorro
My adoption journey...
Zorro came to the UK from Egypt in 2022 where he was rescued from the streets.
I believe that Zorro had been rehomed several times prior to me adopting him, but had been returned due to his “spicy” temperament and he had been in a couple of foster homes too.
I took Zorro home on the 18th February and it took me three weeks just to touch him. Even then he would hiss and strike out at me and I often had scratches on the back of my hands. I knew that his reaction was out of fear so I didn’t react, I just continued to sit in the same room as him and acted as if nothing had happened.
Gradually he decided he wanted to sit closer to me, especially if I had some ham or tuna to share!
After a couple of weeks he was eating treats out of my hand and letting me stroke his chin and cheeks without him swiping me.
Day by day his trust in me and the rest of the family grew until one day he decided to jump on the sofa next to me and sat there purring… I actually cried!
He now sleeps in my bed with me and loves to snuggle in the crook of my arm until he gets too hot then he moves to the end of the bed. He follows me everywhere like a dog, he’s definitely part Arabian Mau!
When Zorro came to me he couldn’t meow which I assume was down to lack of human interaction as a kitten. After a week or so of me talking to him he let out a little croak which made my heart melt. Day by day his meows grew louder and stronger and now as soon as he sees me he shouts his head off as he knows it gets him food, treats and attention
I love my boy with all my heart and i’m so grateful I was allowed to adopt him.
Thank you Friends of Felines xx
