When we first spoke to Friends of Felines about Hope, we were instantly warned that, despite making progress, she was a very nervous cat. When we went to the centre to meet Hope, it was obvious that she was wary of new people, but from just a brief visit and waiting for her to come to us, we began to see the potential. Somewhere in there was a curious, friendly and affectionate little girl.

As soon as we brought Hope home, this girl began to emerge. We spent time sitting in the room we had created as a safe space, waiting patiently and quietly for her to explore us. Once she began to feel comfortable, she quickly offered forceful head bumps, a warm snuggle and the loudest purr you ever heard. She is now living with our two confident young boy cats and gives her brothers a run for their money.

We truly believe that Hope just needed to feel safe in her new home so that she could learn to trust, and this has resulted in us rehoming an extremely charismatic cat.

We would urge anyone else considering rehoming a nervous cat to give them the chance.
